"Dr. Alice Lichtenstein, a nutrition expert at Tufts University,
said she thinks too much is made of the amounts of carbohydrates
and fats in people's diets as they try to shed weight. ``There is
no magic combination of fat versus carbs versus protein," she
said. ``It doesn't matter in the long run. The bottom line is calories,
calories, calories."
Here we go again - a so called totally "lost in space"
expert spouting off again. It seems that this excuse for an human
being can't seem to connect that if one does not absorb the calories
than they are not going to accumulate as fat! If she could just
do her homework, for which she is paid and I am not, she could easily
see that if one does not consume carbohydrates then here will be
very little insulin hence minimal fat storage. The excess fat will
be excreted.

Dr. Lichtenstein should read her basic medical texts before demonstrating
her considerable expertize in nutrition.

"Dr. Sidney Smith, the heart association's research director,
said it was a surprise that the Atkins diet did not raise LDL cholesterol.
"One small study like this flies in the face of so much evidence.
We can't change dietary recommendations on the spot," he said."
Really! "In the face of" what evidence? Believe me I
have tried to find this so called evidence and mostly found contrary
data!

"After six months, the people on the Atkins diet had lost
31 pounds, compared with 20 pounds on the AHA diet, and more people
stuck with the Atkins regimen."
Unlike diets promoted by the typical expert bull, good nutrition
will completely stratify appetite and not leave one hungry as the
low fat diets do.
