I'm very happy because of good results, I do not have headaches for
the last six months, which I had very often before the diet, I'm physically
and psychologically more strong. Climacterium symptoms are very rare
and small, previously I have suffered very much, I better sleep now,
I'm more restful and never hungry between meals, and above all I eat
less than before. My worry is a high level of cholesterol which is
305 mg% (7.9 mmol/dL). What should I do, I feel very well, only that
cholesterol? D.S. from Katowice
After
few months on optimal diet the headaches have ceased and you feel
stronger physically and psychologically. You do not feel hungry
or thirsty. Climacterium is a physiological process and should be
hardly noticeable. The present occurrence during Climacterium is
pathology. Women should go through that period without perspiration,
hot flashes, obesity, having hypertension, sclerosis or other diseases
commonly occurred in that time and above all without hormones. If
Climacterium comes later is much better for a woman.
On the subject of cholesterol a lot wrong information has been written
till now. Cholesterol is vital for the body. Till now it was not
proved that the level of cholesterol in the blood is related to
the eating food. These are independent levels. There is no cholesterol
in plants. Herbivorous animals don't eat cholesterol but always
produce it in large amounts. That's why carbohydrate occurs in herbivorous
in different tissues and most in tissues of low blood supply. Young
dogs produce 40 times more cholesterol in their body then they receive
it in the food.
Why human needs the cholesterol?
Cholesterol is very important compound needed in every cell. Our
body needs cholesterol and products which originate from it as:
Adrenocortical hormones, sex hormone, bile acid, vitamin D and also
cardiac glycosides originate from cholesterol. Cholesterol is needed
in every cell but not all tissues can produce it. The US citizens
produce more than half of the carbohydrates in liver, about 15%
in an alimentary canal and the rest in the skin. If there is no
sclerosis the cholesterol can't be produced in arteries, in a healthy
artery the level of cholesterol is nil. The most cholesterol used
as a raw material for the production of hormones and other needs
is produced when "trough-like" nourishment is observed,
less cholesterol is produced when "pasture-like" nourishment
is used, particularly patients with sclerosis diseases, e.g. Buerger's
disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis or Multiple Sclerosis. The level of
cholesterol of the patients on Optimal Diet generally depends on
an initial level before starting the diet. When the difference between
the initial nourishment and Optimal Diet is big and previous diet
has been maintained for long the synthesis of cholesterol must be
bigger, higher its level in the blood, because those people or rather
theirs tissues and cells need the most cholesterol. When the tissues,
cells and organs take necessary amounts of cholesterol from the
blood therefore, its level lowers.
Cholesterol is present in every cell, but the most is needed in
the brain and nervous tissue. General level of the cholesterol is
not important, can be even 500mg% (12.9 mmol/dL) ( which occurs
among Crete populations) and sclerosis doesn't have to be.
The carbon is needed to the synthesis of cholesterol and it is delivered
from triglycerides, which originate from carbohydrates, most swiftly
from fructose and sugar which contains 50 % of fructose. Therefore,
low consumption of carbohydrates gives low level of triglycerides
and low level of cholesterol. This doesn't happen with people whose
previous diet was much more different from optimal nutrition. Their
tissues and cells need cholesterol and take it from the blood, this
process can last few months. If the level of HDL (good) cholesterol
is high and triglycerides low it means that is very good and total
level of cholesterol is not important. The highest level of triglycerides
I have met was 1700mg% (19.2 mmol/L). After one month on optimal
nutrition it lowered to 260 mg% (2.9 mmol/L) and after six months
dropped to 42 mg% (0.47 mmol/L).
During fast withdrawal of sclerosis, specially with younger people
who use optimal nutrition, the level of HDL is high. The highest
level of HDL I have met was 190 mg% (4.9 mmol/dL) and other man
had 173 mg% (4.5 mmol/dL) These are levels never achieved by people
till now. The level of total cholesterol can be high if good cholesterol
HDL is high as well. It is acceptable if HDL is 60 mg% (1.5 mmol/dL)
and total cholesterol is below 180 mg% (4.6 mmol/dL). Accepting
the above ratio as a norm, the patient with HDL of 190 mg% the total
level of cholesterol should be below 570 mg% (14.7 mmol/dL), and
much better if ratio LDL to HDL is below 2.
The patient who had HDL 190 mg% the total cholesterol was 293 mg%
(7.6 mmol/dL) and wasn't too high because the ratio LDL to HDL was
only 0.55.
What average "not a bread eater" now should know.
It should be known, if the level of HDL is higher then 65 mg% (the
Polish norm) it means that the sclerosis is retreating. The faster
is withdrawing the higher level of HDL is recorded. When sclerosis
is quickly withdrawing, the level of HDL should be 80 110
mg% (2.1 - 2.8 mmol/dL). The patient should know, when the level
of triglycerides is below 150 mg% (1.7 mmol/L) sclerosis can't develop.
It is better if the triglycerides level is low, the best if is below
50 mg% (0.6 mmol/L).
I'm receiving many letters and telephone calls all about the same
enquiry.
I'm using optimal diet for one month or for few months. I have felt
very well till now, but when I had checked my cholesterol level
I was frightened and I do not know what to do.
You should do what you were doing till now - use optimal diet. If
patient feels very well, many diseases have already retreated why
to be worry about cholesterol level? If somebody feels well should
not do any analysis. This will not help but can harm.
